The birth of a jewel

DISCOVER ALL THE VARIOUS STAGES INVOLVED IN MAKING A PIECE OF JEWELLERY

Each piece of jewellery begins with an idea that first takes shape in the form of a handmade model, which Natsuko crafts in wax, honing every detail to perfection.

Once completed, the wax model is passed to the smelter who uses it to make a rubber mould or, in the case of a single piece, to cast it directly in bronze or silver. The method used is that of lost-wax casting, an age-old technique employed in the creation of jewellery and objets d’art, which allows the most minute details to be reproduced with a high level of accuracy, tested and finally realised as complex shapes.

Once the work of the smelter is completed, the cast passes into the hands of the goldsmith who cleans, assembles, finishes and finally polishes each individual jewel, one by one.

The entire creative process takes place in Milan and involves small, trusted local workshops co-operating in synergy. This approach ensures an entirely handcrafted product, with no industrial intervention, thereby fostering a work ethic based on authenticity, expertise and uniqueness.
